I write for myself, but I make it easy for you to be a voyeur. I talk about history and pop culture, computer games, books, my cat Gus and explorations of my present and past. I also post more frequently at my tumblr.

I like generic things such as "reading", "writing" and "drawing". I also like boulevards, boobs, sunny windy days, worn-down church stairs, the french countryside and summer fruits.

I have this weird thing about Sweden.

I feel like I will only be complete when I have a bunny in my life.

Fush and Chups

This is very short as this week was BORING AND SUCKY.  It rained at the beginning of the week, my boyfriend’s computer totally died (although the upside is he’s getting a new one and fixing his old one and giving it to me so I can haz game at home) (actually I think he is doing it so he can haz game when he is at my place) (also his old computer was called Lucille, and I am re-naming her Veronica, and he is naming his new computer Morrigan and changing the default error messages to things like ‘Morrigan Disapproves’ which is funny if you have played Dragon Age) ANYWAY I also realised that I have exams a week from Monday, and also an essay, an assignment, and an aural test  next week and all of this is just a really long-winded, un-punctuated way of saying that I won’t be posting for the next week/week and a half/two weeks while I finish up summer school.  O.M.G.

Also last week in my European studies class we started economic integration, and I spent three hours last week staring blankly at the lecturer who only seems to be saying “bleh bleh bleh bleh.”  He is a really good lecturer and all, I just have NO IDEA WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.  This is pretty much a first in my life for me, I am totally bewildered and lost and now I understand how people feel when I start pontificating about shit like the development of accenting in written classical Greek or whatever.  This section is worth about 50% of the exam and I REALLY don’t want to fail another paper, so I am slightly stressed.

In good news, I got a letter from my university saying I got ‘top student’ in comparative literature last year, which is neat/weird as I only did one paper, and it was one of my favouritist papers ever.  I received a $50 book voucher for the award, which is like half a textbook next semester yay.

My mother made me The Dress, as in my Dream Dress Had I Realised It Before I Got It.  Example:

prettydress

I forgot to lift my skirt – it has a built-in petticoat which she decorated.  It’s nice to know that even your undergarments are pretty.  Also the lighting was really weird – my legs are actually the same colour as my arms, so I don’t know what is going on there…

I wore the dress to a concert I forced my boyfriend to take me to, the Cologne New Philharmonic playing pretty much all my favourite pieces of music – Four Seasons, Bach’s Concerto in D minor (BMV 1043), Pachelbel’s Canon (which was effin sublime, it is overplayed but when played well it slays me) and a Tchaikovsky cello concerto.  It finished with a Mozart concerto for flute, and I dislike both Mozart and the flute, so it was a bit of a downer for the end BUT THEN the lead violinst and the viola came out to play an unbilled encore, a duet by HANDEL lordy lou if they’d replaced Mozart with a Torelli duet it would have been my dream Baroque concert (not counting Tchaikovsky.)  I nearly cried several times, anyway, it was so beautiful.  I need to start playing the violin again.

Then on Saturday we ate fish and chips at Devonport beach (he ate fish, I ate potato fritters.)

The hamburger-pattie thing is actually a paua fritter GROSS I KNOW.

I am a slut for the lycopene, om nom nom.

Also on Friday we went out for dinner and I had the most divine crème brûlée with stewed rhubarb and vanilla ice-cream.  The caramel was a little burnt but otherwise delicious.  If you ever go to Devonport, eat at Manuka, they have great food and the serving staff are really nice and efficient (don’t eat at the Stone Oven, the serving staff are not and EVERY SINGLE TIME I go there they get my order way wrong.)

My mother has just finished making costumes for a New Zealand production based on the events of Apollo 13 (the pictures on the website aren’t the ones that she made, they’re the old crusty ones.)  If you have the chance to go you should because apparently it is AMAZING (I haven’t yet seen it, sadly.)  It calls for audience participation, so she made one of the suits for a female of my size (but with longer legs and arms since I’m a shorty, they’re rolled up in these photos.)  I look a bit silly in these pictures because I’m not wearing the gloves and boots, but the suits are incredible!  I have a clever mummy.

She told me to do an ‘action shot’ but you can’t really ‘action’ in these, they’re so padded, here is my pathetic attempt:
